PIA Nominates Adrian Hamilton-Manns as New CEO, Formalities Still Pending

PIA nominated CEO Adrian Hamilton-Manns in 2026

Pakistan International Airlines has nominated international aviation executive Adrian Hamilton-Manns as its next chief executive officer as the airline moves ahead with its post-privatization restructuring.

The appointment has not yet been formally completed. Security clearance and other required formalities are still being processed, according to reports citing people familiar with the selection. Hamilton-Manns is expected to assume charge by the end of October if the remaining approvals are completed.

Who Is Adrian Hamilton-Manns?

Hamilton-Manns is a New Zealand-born aviation executive with extensive experience in international airline management.

He led Oman-based low-cost airline SalamAir from July 2024 until September 2026. Before that, he served as president and CEO of Kazakhstan’s FlyArystan from 2020 to 2024 and previously held senior roles at airlines including IndiGo, South African Airways and Virgin Australia’s Pacific Blue.

His career has largely focused on commercial airline operations and low-cost carriers.

Why Is the PIA Appointment Important?

The leadership change comes only months after management control of PIA passed to the Arif Habib-led investor consortium on June 29, 2026, following completion of the first stage of the airline’s privatization transaction.

PIA is now undergoing operational and commercial restructuring under private-sector management.

The carrier has also recently moved to expand international capacity, including an agreement to bring two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners into its operation for Pakistan-UK routes.

Has Hamilton-Manns Officially Taken Charge?

Not yet.

Reports describe him as the nominated or selected CEO, while the required security and administrative clearances remain in process.

Until those formalities are completed and PIA issues a formal announcement, it would be inaccurate to describe the appointment as fully finalized.

What Happens Next?

Hamilton-Manns is reportedly expected to take charge by the end of October.

Attention will then turn to how the new management addresses PIA’s fleet strategy, route network, service standards and commercial performance following privatization.
