The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has ordered the establishment of a new Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) Complex at the Old Naval Headquarters Building in Sector G-6, Islamabad. The move is part of an administrative reshuffle aimed at reorganising government offices and allocating official accommodations to key municipal departments.
Under the latest directive, the CDA has instructed the immediate withdrawal and reallocation of office spaces currently occupied by three directorates. The decision will facilitate the establishment of the MCI Complex at the designated building.
According to an office order issued by the CDA Administration Directorate on November 6, 2026, three major departments have been assigned new office accommodations as part of the administrative arrangement. These include the Islamabad Water Agency (IWA), Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) and Maintenance Directorate.
The departments have been directed to shift to their newly allocated office spaces following the authority’s decision. The changes are expected to reorganise the existing office arrangements and provide a designated location for the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad’s administrative operations.
The selection of the Old Naval Headquarters Building in Sector G-6 reflects the CDA’s decision to utilise the existing government infrastructure for the new municipal complex. The move also involves adjustments to the accommodation arrangements of departments responsible for important civic services across the federal capital.
The Islamabad Water Agency plays a significant role in managing water-related services, while the Directorate of Municipal Administration oversees various municipal functions. Meanwhile, the Maintenance Directorate is responsible for maintenance-related activities within its administrative jurisdiction.
The relocation of these directorates is therefore an important part of the proposed office restructuring. Their reassignment will help accommodate the planned MCI setup at the Old Naval Headquarters premises.
The CDA’s November 6 order provides the administrative basis for implementing the changes. However, the available notification does not specify a detailed relocation timeline, the expected completion date of the new complex or the operational arrangements following the departments’ shifting.
The establishment of the MCI Complex marks a new administrative development for Islamabad’s municipal governance structure. Further details regarding the implementation of the relocation and the functioning of the complex may emerge as the Capital Development Authority proceeds with the arrangements.
