The Interior Ministry reported on Sunday that resources of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government were extensively misused during violent protests in Islamabad. According to officials, the demonstrations, which were marked by chaos, included Afghan migrants in PTI protests who are illegally residing in the country.

The ministry’s spokesperson revealed that approximately 1,500 individuals, including trained agitators and absconders, actively participated under the leadership of Murad Saeed, a proclaimed offender. These protests saw heightened tensions with the involvement of Afghan migrants in PTI protests, raising concerns about their role in the unrest.

Authorities clarified that law enforcement agencies, including police and Rangers, exercised restraint by refraining from using live ammunition to disperse the crowds. The military was not directly engaged with the protesters or tasked with preventing violence. Instead, troops were deployed to safeguard critical infrastructure. Despite these measures, armed guards accompanying PTI leadership and other miscreants among the protesters reportedly fired indiscriminately, exacerbating the volatile situation.

The Interior Ministry accused the PTI leadership of avoiding responsibility during the unrest. Instead of addressing the self-created chaos, they allegedly chose to leave the scene. Officials also emphasized the role of Afghan migrants in PTI protests, highlighting their presence among those accused of stoking the violence.

A social media campaign launched by PTI has further complicated the situation. The ministry condemned what it termed an orchestrated effort to blame law enforcement agencies for alleged deaths during the protests. Islamabad’s major hospitals have denied reports of fatalities, while the ministry pointed out the use of outdated or AI-generated video clips in the online narrative. These developments have added to the controversy surrounding the involvement of Afghans in protests.

As investigations continue, the government remains firm in its stance against the misuse of provincial resources and the involvement of illegal migrants in such disruptive activities. The presence of Afghan migrants in PTI protests has fueled a broader debate about security and accountability.
