Pakistan Super League: The HBL PSL 2025 retentions have wrapped up, as all six franchises have now settled their squads for the upcoming Players’ Draft on 11th January. This time, three teams utilized the eight retentions as well, but Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, and Peshawar Zalmi retained seven each.

Islamabad United, the defending champions, retained their captain Shadab Khan and star fast bowler Naseem Shah in the Platinum category. Imad Wasim, appointed as the team’s mentor, was retained in the Diamond category along with Azam Khan.

Multan Sultans, the runners-up of the last edition, retained captain Mohammad Rizwan and leg-spinner Usama Mir in the Platinum category. David Willey, appointed as the team’s mentor, and Iftikhar Ahmed, named the brand ambassador, were retained in the Diamond category.

Peshawar Zalmi retained Babar Azam and Saim Ayub in the Platinum category. Mohammad Haris was retained in the Diamond category, while the spin-bowling trio of Arif Yaqoob, Mehran Mumtaz, and Sufyan Moqim, with Sufyan serving as the brand ambassador were retained in the Silver category. Ali Raza was retained in the emerging category

Quetta Gladiators retained Rilee Rossouw, Abrar Ahmed, and Mohammad Amir in the Diamond category, while all of them would be mentoring the team as well. Saud Shakeel was retained in the Gold category after he was appointed brand ambassador for the Gladiators.

Karachi Kings retained Hasan Ali and James Vince in the Diamond category. Shan Masood and Muhammad Irfan Khan were retained in the Gold category. Arafat Minhas, named the brand ambassador for the Kings, was retained in the Silver category along with Tim Seifert and Zahid Mehmood.

Lahore Qalandars retained Shaheen Shah Afridi and Fakhar Zaman in the Platinum category, along with retaining the brand ambassador name Haris Rauf in the Diamond category besides the inclusion of Sikandar Raza. In the Gold category, it retains Abdullah Shafique, Jahandad Khan, and Zaman Khan. Silver retainee would include David Wiese.

The HBL PSL 2025 Players’ Draft is set to happen on January 11th, with 510 players from 19 countries signed up. The tournament itself is set to take place between April 8th and May 19th, 2025.
