“What’s Love Got to Do with It?”, Jemima Khan’s cross-cultural British romantic comedy film, is set to release in Pakistan on March 3rd, according to Atrium Cinemas. The film, directed by Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, stars Sajal Aly, Lily James and Shahzad Latif and tells the story of a documentary maker and dating app addict who wonders if she might have something to learn from an arranged marriage that can help her find love on her own.
The movie premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September and at the Rome Film Festival in October, where it bagged the Best Comedy award. Though the film was previously scheduled to release in Australia on January 26 and in UK cinemas on January 27, it will be delayed in Pakistan; Nueplex Cinemas, The Arena and Cue Cinemas are yet to receive an update on the movie’s screening in Pakistan. Universal Cinemas, Lahore said it will not release at their cinema house.
Khan’s “love letter” to Pakistan, is co-produced and written by her, it features Emma Thompson, Shabana Azmi, Asim Chaudhry, Mim Shaikh, Jeff Mirza, Iman Boujelouah, Mariam Haque and Sidhu Vee.
Fans of the film can mark their calendars for ticket bookings at Atrium Cinemas and hope for the best news from other cinemas. The golden question is- Is the movie slated for a theatre release in Pakistan? The answer is yes, fingers crossed.
