According to ARY News on Saturday, the government’s proposed energy-saving plan called for the closure of all restaurants at 10 p.m.

The Sindh government has planned to close the markets and restaurants in Karachi by at the latest by 10 pm in accordance with the federal government’s energy conservation strategy.

Federal Government Plan

The federal government had also urged the Sindh chief secretary to follow the energy-saving strategy in a letter that was delivered to him on February 16.

In this regard, the chief secretary forwarded the directive to the commissioner for Karachi, who then instructed all deputy commissioners (DCs) of Karachi to carry it out.

Timing for Markets and restaurant

The government has mandated that markets and retail centers close at 8:30 p.m. and that hotels, restaurants, and banquet halls close at 10 p.m.

The commissioner has also mandated that all DCs submit implementation reports.

The Restaurants Association rejected the proposal (AKRA).

This notion was opposed by the All Karachi Restaurants Association (AKRA), whose general secretary Faizan Rawat urged the provincial government to reconsider the energy-saving plan and demand that the restaurant’s hours be extended to midnight.

He promised that the group will fulfill its obligation to assist the government during this trying period.
