In a significant move, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee has entrusted the former cricketer, Mohammad Hafeez, with the crucial role of Chief Selector for the national team. The appointment is expected to take effect after the ongoing two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, as per media reports.
Earlier this month, Zaka Ashraf, the newly appointed interim Chairman of the PCB, approached Hafeez with the offer to assume the Chief Selector position. The former captain was given time to consider the responsibility due to his current commitments, but eventually, he accepted the prestigious role.
In addition to Hafeez’s appointment, rumors have been swirling about other cricketers like Younis Khan, Mohsin Khan, Saleem Yousuf, and Shoaib Akhtar being offered various positions within the PCB.
It is worth noting that the federal government officially appointed Zaka Ashraf as the chairman of the newly formed management committee, granting the committee a four-month term to oversee the affairs of the PCB.
