More than 100 social media accounts have been suspended in Pakistan for multiple reasons including anti-state, terrorist, anti-Islam activities along with promoting sectarianism.

The request to suspend these accounts on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook was initiated by the Capital Police. The police said that 106 accounts have been suspended so far via Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

According to police, “The PVE is monitoring the individual’s social media accounts involved in different illegal activities, including sectarianism, anti-state, terrorism, and anti-Islam.”

As of now, the unit has suggested to suspend 203 accounts – 164 of them are on Twitter, 38 on Facebook and one on YouTube.

The Counterterrorism Department has sent all the relevant details including screenshot of the illegal activity to FIA in order to block these accounts.
