In accordance with the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department has implemented revised school timings across the province. This adjustment acknowledges the significance of Ramadan for Muslim students and their families. During this sacred period, Muslims observe fasting from dawn to dusk. Recognizing the potential challenges this can pose for students, particularly when it comes to attending school during long summer days, the Education Department has opted for these modified schedules.
Earlier Classes for Students:
- Primary Schools: Classes will start at 7:30 am and conclude at 11:10 am from Monday to Thursday and Saturday. On Fridays, schools will finish earlier at 10:05 am.
- Middle, Secondary & Higher Secondary Schools: These schools will commence classes at 7:30 am as well but will continue until 12:15 pm from Monday to Thursday and Saturday. Fridays will see a shortened schedule with dismissal at 10:25 am.
These adjusted timings aim to accommodate the observance of Ramadan, which involves fasting from dawn to dusk.
Ramadan Moon Sighting Soon:
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Peshawar will convene tomorrow, March 11th, to determine if the Ramadan crescent moon can be sighted. This will confirm the official start date for Ramadan in Pakistan. Committee meetings will also take place in various zonal locations to gather and verify moon sighting reports.
Anticipation Grows for Ramadan:
If the moon is sighted on March 11th, Ramadan will commence on March 12th. This holy month holds immense significance for Muslims worldwide. It commemorates the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and is a time for spiritual reflection, prayer, and fasting. During Ramadan, Muslims abstain from food and drink from sunrise to sunset.
Looking Forward to a Blessed Ramadan:
While Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have already called upon their citizens to begin searching for the Ramadan moon tonight, March 10th, Pakistan will make its official announcement based on today’s sighting. As the anticipation builds, students and families in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa can now prepare for the adjusted school schedules during this sacred month.
