National Voter Statistics: A Steady Rise
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has stated a modest rise in the country’s registered voters, increasing by 0.47 million to 132.67 million. The voter population now consist of 71.28 million males (53.72%) and 61.39 million females (46.28%), reflecting the gender gap in voter registration.
Voter Distribution Across Provinces
In Punjab, the largest province in terms of population, voter registration stands at 75.55 million, with 40.24 million males and 35.30 million females. Sindh follows with 27.82 million voters, of which 15.03 million are males and 12.79 million are females.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has 22.59 million voters, comprising 12.28 million males and 10.30 million females. Meanwhile, Balochistan reports 5.54 million registered voters, with a male majority of 56.01%.
Federal and City-Level Breakdown
The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) has a total of 1.17 million voters, including 0.61 million males and 0.56 million females. Major cities also showcase notable voter bases:
- Lahore: 7.17 million voters (52.65% males and 47.35% females)
- Karachi: 7.23 million voters (53.58% males and 46.42% females)
- Peshawar: 2.16 million voters (55.11% males and 44.89% females)
Gender Representation Challenges
Despite the overall growth in registered voters, the data highlights the persistent gender disparity in voter registration. Female representation remains significantly lower than male voters across all regions, particularly in Balochistan, where only 43.99% of voters are women.
