Famous Pakistani video and radio jockey Anoushey Ashraf faced a lot of criticism when she shared her “adventurous rickshaw ride” details in an attempt to “normalize public transport.”

The host was offered a “sympathy ride.” Anoushey tweeted,

“Got offered a sympathy ride when someone saw me getting into a rickshaw 2day. I thought it’d be an adventure, was close to home, relatively safe (you can jump out) and cheap.”

In the tweet, Anoushey also called herself a “well off” person, which did not go well with Twitter. She continued, “But seeing a ‘well off’ person in a rick can really worry ppl here! Normalise public transport for all.”

Post the tweet, twitteratis called out her for her “blinded privilege” and also told the RJ that rickshaw rides are no more “cheap”, considering the inflation and high prices. Some even told Anoushey that they use Rickshaws for their daily commute and that rickshaws are already very “normal” in Karachi.
