Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed all federal institutions to immediately begin transitioning to Pakistan’s newly established national central data center, Sky 47, marking another major step in the country’s digital transformation agenda.
The directive was issued during a high-level review meeting in Islamabad focused on the implementation of Pakistan’s national digital policy framework. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing public services, improving data management, and strengthening digital governance across federal institutions.
According to officials, Sky 47 will function as a centralized repository for government data, allowing ministries and departments to securely store, manage, and access information through a unified digital infrastructure. The move is expected to improve efficiency, reduce duplication of data, and enhance coordination between government agencies.
The prime minister emphasized that adopting a centralized digital system is essential for building a more transparent, responsive, and technology-driven public sector. He instructed relevant authorities to ensure the rapid rollout of the platform so that federal institutions can begin utilizing the new infrastructure without unnecessary delays.
