Five lucky individuals owe their lives to a quick-thinking Apple Watch and its Car Crash detection feature. The incident occurred on the 15 Freeway in Ontario, California, when their car collided with a tree.

Thanks to the Apple Watch’s built-in sensors, emergency services were immediately alerted to the accident, even though the occupants were unable to call for help themselves. “Responders found a single vehicle crashed into a tree,” confirmed a California Highway Patrol official.

This life-saving technology isn’t a first. Previously, a couple was similarly rescued after their Apple Watch detected a crash and sent out an SOS.

Remember, the Car Crash detection feature is currently available only on the iPhone 14 and 15 series, Apple Watch 8, SE 2, and Ultra models. So, if you’re looking for an extra layer of safety on the road, consider upgrading!
