This comes after the killing of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and recent Israeli strikes in Lebanon. The attacks have heightened tensions in the region, as world leaders express deep concern.

With tensions mounting, President Joe Biden said that as long as it threatened to attack Israel, he hoped Iran wouldn’t push things any further. While admitting that flights had been disrupted, the embassy insisted that commercial transport options were still available for evacuation. In like manner, the UK government instructed its citizens to leave Lebanon immediately, with warnings that the situation in the region could deteriorate rapidly.
