Pakistan’s cotton arrivals have increased by 27 percent year on year, signaling a positive development for the country’s agriculture and textile sectors.
Data from the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) showed that cotton arrivals reached 1,696,451 bales by August 31, compared with 1,335,632 bales recorded during the same period last year.
The increase represents an additional 360,819 bales and reflects stronger crop performance during the current season.
Favorable weather conditions have played an important role in supporting cotton production. Dry weather, cooler nights and suitable winds helped improve crop conditions across major cotton-growing areas.
These weather patterns also contributed to better per-acre yields, giving farmers stronger output compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.
Lower moisture levels in the harvested cotton also helped reduce waste, supporting improvements in overall crop quality. Better quality cotton can benefit ginners, textile manufacturers and other participants across the cotton supply chain.
