The excitement is building for the Women’s Asia Cup 2024, set to unfold in Dambulla from July 19 to 28, featuring eight formidable teams. Among the highly anticipated clashes, the spotlight remains on the intense rivalry between Pakistan and India, scheduled for July 21.

This edition marks a notable expansion, with Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan joining hosts Sri Lanka alongside the rising teams of UAE, Nepal, Malaysia, and Thailand, the semi-finalists of the Women’s Premier Cup 2024.

In a strategic shift from the previous format, India find themselves in Group A, alongside Pakistan, UAE, and Nepal, while Group B comprises Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Unlike before, teams will now compete within their groups, with the top two contenders advancing to the semi-finals, culminating in the grand finale on July 28.

The clash between Pakistan and India holds special significance, with Nida Dar leading the women in green and Harmanpreet Kaur commanding the women in blue. Memories of Pakistan’s triumph over India in the 2022 Women’s Asia Cup, under Bismah Maroof’s captaincy, add an extra layer of anticipation to this encounter.

Ahead of the showdown with India, Pakistan will kick off their campaign against Nepal on March 19 and face UAE on July 23rd, setting the stage for an exhilarating tournament that promises fierce competition and memorable moments.
