Government Announces Major Initiative for Students

The Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme is set to launch its third phase, bringing fresh opportunities for deserving students across Pakistan. This initiative, aimed at promoting digital literacy and technological access, will distribute laptops to outstanding students from public sector universities.

Who is Eligible for the Laptop Scheme?

To qualify for the scheme, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled in an HEC-recognized public university
  • Maintain an excellent academic record
  • Have not previously received a laptop under this program
  • Postgraduate, undergraduate, and PhD students are eligible

Technical colleges and vocational training institutes may also be included in this phase.

Registration Process and Timeline

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) will oversee the registration and distribution process. Students will be required to apply online through a dedicated government portal, where they must submit academic records and identification documents.

  • Registration opens: March 2024
  • Deadline to apply: April 2024
  • Laptop distribution begins: June 2024
