Punjab Government Launches New Attendance Monitoring System for Teachers

The Punjab School Education Department (SED) has launched a new attendance monitoring system aimed at improving the quality of education in the province’s public schools. This initiative is part of a larger effort to enforce strict teacher compliance with school hours and enhance educational standards.

The new system emphasizes strict adherence to duty hours for both principals and teachers, with regular surprise inspections conducted by department officers to ensure full compliance. According to a directive issued on August 11, school staff must remain on campus until 2:30 pm. Focus on Enhanced Compliance

The SED has directed all District Education Authorities (DEAs) and their chief executive officers to strictly follow the guidelines and enforce the rules effectively. In addition to regular teaching duties, teachers are now required to focus on tasks such as lesson planning and professional development during these extended hours. Updated School Timings

Starting August 15, the revised school timings for single-shift schools are 8 am to 1:30 pm from Monday to Thursday, and 6 am to 12 noon on Fridays. For double-shift schools, there will be different timings for morning and afternoon shifts, allowing for smoother transitions and efficient school operations. The extended hours will also apply to teachers, ensuring that they have ample time to participate in school activities and responsibilities.

Interviews for Leadership Positions

In related news, the Punjab Higher Education Department (HED) recently completed the first round of interviews for several key administrative positions, including Directorate of Public Instruction (Colleges), Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), and District Education Authority (DEA) positions. Around 120 candidates were evaluated on their administration, leadership, communication, and IT skills as part of the selection process.
