Pakistan is a step closer to building its largest cricket stadium after the Capital Development Authority (CDA) opened the financial bids for the landmark project. A joint venture comprising Habib-ZKB-EA JV emerged as the successful bidder by submitting an offer worth Rs. 8.9 billion, paving the way for construction to begin following the completion of formal approval procedures.
The proposed stadium will be developed near Sector D-12, nestled at the foothills of the scenic Margalla Hills. Once completed, it is expected to become one of Pakistan’s premier sporting venues and a major addition to the country’s cricket infrastructure.
According to officials, the stadium will have a seating capacity of more than 35,000 spectators, making it the largest cricket stadium planned for the federal capital. The project is designed to accommodate international cricket matches as well as major domestic tournaments, offering modern facilities for players, officials, media personnel, and fans.
Authorities have revealed that the architectural design of the venue will be inspired by the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, one of the world’s most recognized cricket arenas. The modern design is expected to include advanced lighting systems, high-quality playing facilities, spacious seating arrangements, hospitality suites, and upgraded amenities to meet international standards.
The construction of the stadium is part of broader efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s sports infrastructure and enhance its ability to host international sporting events. Over the past few years, Pakistan has successfully welcomed the return of international cricket, with leading teams visiting the country for bilateral series and global competitions.
