Sindh Pink Scooty Scheme: 50,000 Target, Eligibility and How to Apply
The Sindh government plans to expand its Pink Scooty initiative with a target of providing electric scooters to as many as 50,000 women across the province.
The latest announcement was made during a Pink EV scooter distribution ceremony in Mirpurkhas. Sindh Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon said the programme would gradually be expanded to eligible women across all districts of Sindh.
Importantly, the 50,000 figure represents the government’s announced target. It should not be interpreted as meaning that 50,000 scooters have already been distributed.
Is Registration for the Pink Scooty Scheme Open?
The Sindh Mass Transit Authority currently has an official Pink Scooty / Learning EV registration page where women can submit their details and documents.
The registration form is available through the official SMTA website and states that the programme is exclusively for female applicants.
Applicants are asked to provide personal information including their CNIC number, contact details, division and address.
Who Can Apply?
According to the official SMTA registration page, priority is being given to categories including widows, single mothers, working women and students.
The scheme is restricted to women, while applicants are required to provide documents demonstrating their identity, residence and relevant student or employment status.
The official registration system currently asks applicants for:
CNIC copy, domicile, PRC, motorbike learner licence and a student or employee card, depending on the applicant’s category.
Applicants can also indicate whether they require riding training or assistance with obtaining a learner licence.
Is a Driving Licence Required?
There is an important distinction between applying for the programme and ultimately receiving a scooter.
The registration portal allows applicants to provide learner-licence information and request licensing assistance. However, the latest statement from the transport minister says women will need to obtain a permanent driving licence and pass the required driving test before qualifying to receive a Pink Scooty.
Women who do not yet have a permanent licence should therefore complete the licensing and training process rather than assuming a learner licence alone will be sufficient for final distribution.
How Will Women Be Selected?
The official registration information says applications will be verified and final selection will take place through a transparent balloting process.
Submitting an application therefore does not automatically guarantee that an applicant will receive a scooter.
The Sindh government has also been providing riding training as part of the initiative.
Where Should Applications Be Submitted?
Applicants should use only the official Sindh Mass Transit Authority registration system.
This is particularly important because SMTA has previously warned citizens about fake Pink Scooty advertisements and unofficial application links circulating online. Applicants should avoid submitting CNIC copies or other personal documents through social-media forms or unofficial websites.
What Happens Next?
The government has indicated that distribution will gradually expand throughout Sindh as more women complete licensing and eligibility requirements.
Women interested in the programme should therefore focus on completing their driving licence requirements, preparing the documents requested by SMTA and keeping their application information accurate.
The expansion could make the Pink Scooty Scheme one of the larger women-focused electric mobility initiatives operating in Sindh, but the actual number and timing of future distributions will depend on implementation by the provincial authorities.
