The sizzling issue in connection to the Pakistani pilgrims is that one of them was begging while they were visiting Iran and Iraq for religious purposes. The allegations now point towards the FIA, that is the Federal Investigation Agency. These officials from Pakistan have received a strongly worded letter recently from the Iraqi authorities who have expressed their anger over the issue.
The letter alleges that FIA staff facilitates these Pakistani beggars and also pays the Iranian drivers to facilitate their transit. Iraqi officials also reported that heavy criminal activities by Pakistani pilgrims are going on including drug trafficking, human smuggling, and organized begging.
Shockingly, while around 60,000 illegal Pakistani immigrants are presently in Iraq, Pakistani girls between the ages of 18 to 25 are also found involved in begging there. The Iraqi government has called upon the Pakistani government to make sure that the pilgrims and tour operators provide guarantees on returning after their pilgrimage.
In a case of failure to adhere to the above-mentioned matters, the same can result in blacklisting of Pakistani subjects from entering Iraq. What is remarkable is just how embarrassing this situation has got to be for the Pakistani embassy.
The FIA has covered its stance by stating that most of these pilgrims leave behind women and children who are then taken into custody in Baghdad. The FIA has found out that most of such persons hail from areas like Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, and Gujrat. The other day 66 women along with their kids were taken into custody in Baghdad for begging.
