The Diamond League will increase its prize money to more than $9 million in 2025, organizers said on Wednesday. It will be the biggest payout in the history of the series. The approximate award money will be $18 million, with top athletes receiving additional fees on promotional grounds. The organizers announced for the first time in the history of the Diamond League that male and female athletes will receive equal compensation.
This prize money increase represents an almost one-third rise from the pandemic-affected period of 2021-2024. The statement reiterated further investments in athlete travel, accommodation, and medical services to enhance the experience of the competition.
