A Chinese firm, ADM Group, has announced an ambitious plan to install 3,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Pakistan, aiming to accelerate the country’s shift toward green energy while creating employment opportunities.

Boosting Pakistan’s EV Infrastructure

A delegation from China’s ADM Group recently met with Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah and other key stakeholders to discuss the expansion of EV infrastructure in Pakistan. Minister Shah assured the provincial government’s support, confirming that the project will cover urban centers and major highways, significantly enhancing EV accessibility across the country.

Each EV charging station is estimated to cost Rs. 8 million, with an initial deposit of Rs. 1 million required for installation. The initiative is projected to create approximately one million jobs, contributing to Pakistan’s economic and industrial development.

Agreement with Federal Government & Local Manufacturing

The ADM Group has also signed an agreement with the federal government to expand EV charging infrastructure nationwide. The company is actively considering setting up EV manufacturing plants in Pakistan, which could further boost local production and exports.

If ADM establishes production facilities in Sindh, the provincial government may purchase up to 20% of the locally manufactured EVs, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable transportation solutions.

Potential for Local Production & Exports

ADM Group’s CEO Yasir Bhambhani revealed that local EV production could begin as early as this year, pending approval. The company also has plans to export “Made in Pakistan” electric vehicles to seven countries, including India, strengthening Pakistan’s footprint in the global EV market.

ADM aims to construct three EV manufacturing plants in Karachi, Punjab, and Balochistan, with a combined annual production capacity of 72,000 units. This move is expected to position Pakistan as a key player in the EV industry, fostering both domestic adoption and international trade.

The Road Ahead for Pakistan’s EV Market

This development aligns with Pakistan’s National Electric Vehicle Policy (NEVP), which aims to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, cut emissions, and encourage EV adoption. With ADM Group’s investment, Pakistan is set to make significant strides in clean energy transportation, paving the way for a more sustainable future.
