SECP Registers 5,241 New Companies in September as IT Sector Leads

Pakistan added 5,241 newly registered companies in September 2026, taking the total number of companies registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan to 317,002.

The latest numbers also show how strongly company incorporation has shifted online, with 99.9% of September registrations completed digitally through SECP’s eZfile and integrated registration systems.

The information technology sector recorded the highest number of new incorporations during the month.

What Types of Companies Were Registered?

Private limited companies accounted for the largest share.

September registrations included:

3,013 private limited companies

2,058 single-member companies

127 limited liability partnerships

29 not-for-profit organisations

10 public companies

2 trade organisations

2 foreign companies

Private limited and single-member companies together accounted for the overwhelming majority of new incorporations.

Punjab Leads New Company Registrations

Punjab recorded the highest number of registrations:

RegionNew Companies
Punjab2,740
Islamabad1,009
Sindh790
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa428
Gilgit-Baltistan169
Balochistan105

Punjab therefore accounted for more than half of September’s new incorporations.

IT Sector Leads Pakistan’s New Businesses

Information technology recorded 920 new companies, making it the leading sector.

Other major sectors included:

Trading: 808
Services: 599
Construction: 339
Food and beverages: 239
Tourism: 222
Real estate: 193
Education: 189
E-commerce: 179
Mining: 127

Another 1,426 companies were incorporated across other sectors.

Foreign Investors Participate

SECP data also shows 167 foreign investors participating in companies incorporated during September.

Chinese investors accounted for 113, the largest number from any single country.

Other participants included investors from the United States, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Türkiye and several additional countries.

Women in New Company Registrations

SECP reported that women represented:

14% of shareholders and directors

11% of ultimate beneficial owners

and

8% of chief executives

among the relevant new company data.

Almost All Companies Now Register Online

Perhaps one of the most significant figures is the 99.9% online-registration rate.

SECP has progressively moved company incorporation toward its eZfile platform and integrated digital systems, reducing the need for entrepreneurs to rely on traditional paper-based registration.

The regulator says simplifying registration is part of its broader effort to encourage formalisation and business activity.

How Does September Compare With July?

Trending Pakistan previously reported that SECP registered a record 5,438 new companies in July 2026.

September’s 5,241 registrations are slightly below that record but still indicate strong company-formation activity.

Comparing monthly data over a longer period will provide a clearer indication of whether this level of incorporation is sustained.

Pakistan registered another 5,241 companies in September, bringing the nationwide SECP total to 317,002.

IT again emerged as a major source of new business formation, while Punjab accounted for more than half of the month’s incorporations.

The fact that 99.9% of registrations were completed online also shows how rapidly company incorporation has shifted toward digital channels.
