Apple’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, has officially gone on sale worldwide with a starting price of $1,999, marking the company’s entry into the foldable-phone market.
The device reached Apple Stores on October 23, 2026, following pre-orders that opened a week earlier.
Demand has been strong enough to create supply shortages in several markets, with estimated delivery dates for some orders pushed as far back as late January.
What Is the iPhone Duo Price?
Apple officially lists the iPhone Duo starting at:
$1,999
The final price varies depending on storage capacity and market.
For example, Reuters reported that a 512GB iPhone Duo sold for A$3,899 in Australia, while a 256GB model in Hong Kong was priced at HK$17,499.
Apple has not announced an official Pakistan launch price.
Any Pakistan-market price available through unofficial retailers would therefore likely include import costs, taxes and retailer margins rather than being an official Apple Pakistan price.
iPhone Duo Key Specifications
The iPhone Duo uses a folding design with two displays:
- 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR folding display
- 5.4-inch outer Super Retina XDR display
- ProMotion technology
- Always-On display
- A20 Pro chip
- titanium frame and hinge cover
- 48MP dual-camera system
- up to 44 hours of video playback using the outer display
- up to 31 hours using the inner display
Apple also says the device runs iOS 27, which has been redesigned to take advantage of the foldable screen and multitasking capabilities.
Why Is the iPhone Duo Hard to Find?
Supply appears to be one of the biggest issues at launch.
Reuters reported that pre-orders sold out within minutes in several markets, and Apple restricted pre-orders to two devices per customer.
Walk-in availability is also limited in many countries.
In markets including China, France, Hong Kong, India and Japan, customers were largely required to have placed an online order before collecting a device.
Early Reviews Are Mixed
Early reviews have generally praised the iPhone Duo’s design, hinge and display.
Reviewers have also highlighted some compromises.
Among the concerns mentioned are:
- lack of a telephoto camera;
- third-party apps that still need better foldable-screen support;
- reduced convenience for quick one-handed tasks; and
- the high $1,999 starting price.
Some reviewers have described the device as technically impressive but harder to recommend to ordinary iPhone users because of its price and first-generation compromises.
Apple Enters a Competitive Foldable Market
Apple is entering a foldable-phone segment that has already been developed by companies such as Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi.
However, Apple’s entry could significantly expand consumer interest in the category.
IDC expects Apple to capture around 44% of the foldable-phone market by value in 2026 and 31% by unit shipments, according to Reuters.
The bigger test will be whether Apple can turn early excitement into sustained demand once availability improves.
Is the iPhone Duo Available in Pakistan?
Apple has not announced Pakistan-specific pricing or direct official retail availability.
Pakistani buyers may eventually find imported units through third-party sellers, but prices are likely to be considerably higher than the $1,999 US starting price after taxes, duties and reseller margins.
Buyers should also check:
- PTA approval status;
- warranty coverage;
- model compatibility; and
- whether the device was sourced through an authorised market.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone has arrived with a $1,999 starting price, strong early demand and limited supply.
The iPhone Duo brings Apple into a foldable market already occupied by Samsung, Huawei and other manufacturers, while offering a large 7.6-inch internal display, A20 Pro chip and a redesigned version of iOS.
For now, the biggest challenge may simply be finding one in stock.
