PTA and FIA Crackdown on Illegal Internet Service Providers in Pakistan

In a significant move to combat the proliferation of illegal internet service providers, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) joined forces and successfully conducted two raids in Lahore and Kot Addu.

Locations revealed for illegal internet service providers

The targeted locations, Etihad Park Chungi Amer Sidhu and Tehsil Chowk Sarwar Shaheed, were found to be operating without a valid license from PTA.

During the raids, the authorities seized operational internet setups and related equipment, and three individuals were apprehended by the FIA. The culprits are now in custody, pending further investigation.

This crackdown against illegal internet service providers highlights PTA’s unwavering commitment to tackle this issue. Through continuous monitoring and persistent efforts, PTA aims to prevent tax evasion and revenue misreporting, ultimately safeguarding the national exchequer.

PTA advises the public to choose licensed operators for their telecom services to avoid any unexpected disruptions.
