Karachi grapples with a severe traffic crisis as a staggering 9,555 challans were issued in a single day, accumulating a hefty amount of Rs 6.87 million in fines due to rampant traffic rule violations.
Among the infractions, riding without helmets accounted for 1,033 challans, while 1,200 challans targeted underage drivers.
In a stern response, the police also seized bikes from these underage drivers. The fines for overspeeding reached Rs 700 for bikes and Rs 1,000 for cars, emphasizing the authorities’ commitment to enforcing speed limits.
Additionally, wrong-side driving incurred fines of Rs 2,000 for bikes and Rs 3,000 for cars, aiming to curb the hazardous practice and promote road safety in the bustling city.
