Karachi Kings Fall Short in Final Over Drama

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 continues to deliver thrilling encounters as Quetta Gladiators edged out Karachi Kings by a slender margin of five runs at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

Chasing a modest target of 143, Karachi Kings could only manage 137-8 in their 20 overs despite a promising start.

Early Breakthroughs and a Strong Partnership

Karachi’s chase began on a sour note when Mohammad Amir dismissed skipper David Warner for just 4 runs in the opening over. However, Tim Seifert and James Vince steadied the innings, launching a spirited counterattack.

The duo stitched a 50-run partnership, but Vince’s dismissal for 30 by Saud Shakeel shifted the momentum back to Quetta.

Seifert kept Karachi’s hopes alive with a fluent 47 off 26 balls, but his departure in the 12th over to Mohammad Wasim Jr. exposed the fragile middle order.

Collapse of Karachi’s Middle Order

Following Seifert’s exit, Karachi’s batting crumbled under pressure. Shan Masood struggled for rhythm, scoring just 9 off 17 balls before falling to Khurram Shahzad.

Khushdil Shah and Mohammad Nabi also departed cheaply, while Omair Bin Yousuf’s 11-run knock could not stem the collapse.

Hasan Ali’s unbeaten 24 off 13 balls provided a late push, but it wasn’t enough to overhaul Quetta’s total.

Mohammad Amir, Abrar Ahmed, and Khurram Shahzad shared six wickets between them, sealing the win for the Gladiators.

Quetta’s Inning: Battling Through a Collapse

Opting to bat first, Quetta Gladiators faced early trouble as their top order crumbled against Karachi’s pace attack. Hasan Ali was instrumental, removing Saud Shakeel and Finn Allen early.

Brief resistance from Kusal Mendis (36 off 22) and a solid 59-run partnership between Hasan Nawaz and Faheem Ashraf gave Quetta some breathing room.

Faheem’s aggressive 43-run innings was crucial, but once the partnership broke, Quetta lost wickets rapidly, ending at 142 all out in 19.3 overs.

Hasan Ali ended with 3/33, supported by Abbas Afridi and Mir Hamza, each claiming two wickets.
