Masood Alam shackling the orthodox ways of Pakistan’s Music Industry

Music can bring us to tears or to our feet, drive us into battle or lull us to sleep. Music is indeed remarkable in its power over all humankind, and perhaps for that very reason, no human culture on earth has ever lived without it. The name “Masood Alam” is been included in such artists that gave meaning and soul to the music industry of Pakistan. He is one of the prime talents who filled colours into any lifeless story or content.

Masood Alam was a pioneer who produced art for many beloved brands and composed music for many profiled artists including Atif Aslam and Dino Ali. Masood Alam’s composition has the ability and power to influence human thoughts and create a lifelong home in everyone’s heart.

Masood Alam an artist from a very humble background and with no strings to artistry, found his love for music at a very young age. From playing with cans, cardboard boxes to buying his very own keyboard at the age of 13. An artist who encountered many ups and downs and still came out strong with more passion and containment. Masood Alam is one of the golden musicians in Pakistan, who could create harmonious melodies just by understanding the plot.

Masood Alam took the nuisance music from many Sufi Kalams and brought an era of respective artistry to give Sufism a true meaning of legacy and soul that lagged before. Masood Alam composed his first project of “Imtezaj” volume 1 under his pioneer records of “Wajdaan”. Further, he created melodies for Pakistan’s beloved channel “PTV Home” show “123 Check”.

Masood Alam a poet, an artist and a music composer brought a sense of new legacy in the music industry that brought a paradigm shift. Masood Alam not only is a great artist but also a supporter of all those musicians that are struggling to make ways for themselves to get recognised.

It is only Masood who wanted to build an army of artists for Pakistan that shackles all the orthodox ways of the music industry and bring a new era of artistry under music that gets our country recognised and appreciated.

Inflation in Pakistan rose to 9.2 % in October as compared to 9% in September, according to a report issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). Consumer Price Index (CPI) also states that this is the highest inflation figure in the last 4 months. The major factors behind this increase are depreciation in the value of money and a surge in energy prices.

During July-October, the average inflation rate was 8.74% on a yearly basis. Inflation was at its peak in April, around 11.1%, and since then it has been declining due to a decrease in the prices of agricultural products.

German missions in Pakistan to celebrate Unity Day on October 3

KARACHI: Germany is celebrating the 31st anniversary of German reunification on October 3, 2021, a statement said on Friday.

This year is very special for both Pakistan and Germany, as they commemorate the 70th anniversary of cordial diplomatic ties.

Due to the pandemic, the German missions in Pakistan must sadly once again refrain from the usual German national day festivities.

Instead, the German Embassy Islamabad and the German Consulate General in Karachi decided to go online on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at 6:30 pm on the embassy’s Facebook page and YouTube channel for a digital celebration with very special guests.

“Naturally, we regret that we cannot celebrate in person with all our friends and partners here in Islamabad. However, we are making the best of it by offering everyone a glimpse into what we at the German missions are up to on a day-to-day basis. Do join us – there will be some great music, too!”, Bernhard Schlagheck, German ambassador to Pakistan, said.

“Having been posted to Karachi for a year already, I am still amazed by all the warmth and hospitality extended to me and my family by the wonderful people of Sindh. We wanted to give something back by hosting this virtual event where we showcase some of the many fields in which Germany and Pakistan work together to an amazing effect,” Holger Ziegeler, German consul general in Karachi, said.

“Germany firmly believes in further deepening its bilateral ties with Pakistan in all fields. We are looking forward to working and further contributing to that goal during our time in Pakistan,” he added.

What does the digital event entail?

First, the Pakistani national anthem will be played by Ustad Ashraf Sharif and friends, a fusion music group based in Germany; followed by the German national anthem by young tabla virtuosos Riyan and Isaac.

After that German Ambassador to Pakistan Bernhard Schlagheck, German Consul General in Karachi Holger Ziegeler, and Head of Economic Cooperation and Youth Ambassador Marion Pfennigs briefed the participants about their life and work in Pakistan.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Heiko Maas will give a short address. The event will also be joined by Village Food sensation Mubashir Siddique who will try out some German recipes with the embassy’s Head of Commerce Christian Böttcher.

Dr Chris Schmotzer, director of the Rawalpindi Leprosy Hospital, will brief about her journey of more than 30 decades in which she has dedicated herself to the treatment of leprosy, tuberculosis and skin diseases in Pakistan.

The celebrations will be concluded by a classical music piece: The West-Eastern Divan Orchestra will play Edward Elgar’s Variation IX, ‘Nimrod’, conducted by Daniel Barenboim.

MINISTRY OF MARITIME AFFAIRS CELEBRATES WORLD MARITIME DAY 2021

Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Government of Pakistan is celebrating World Maritime Day 2021 by organizing a seminar at Beach Luxury Hotel, Karachi. World Maritime Day is observed every year on the last Thursday of September to celebrate the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) founding in 1958, 2021 being the 73rd year.

The theme of this year’s World Maritime Day is “Seafarers: at the core of shipping’s future”. The seminar seeks to increase the visibility of seafarers by drawing attention to the invaluable contribution seafarers make to keep international trade flowing and to keep the world economy running.

Local and international speakers shall be participating in the seminar. President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi addressed the participants online while Governor Sindh, Mr. Imran Ismail was the chief guest of the event to be hosted by the Minister of Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi. The event was also be broadcast online globally.

Giving due recognition to the contribution seafarers make, for the first time in Pakistan, the Federal Government on the recommendation of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs has declared seafarers as ‘Key Workers’, thus fulfilling international obligation in line with the resolutions of the IMO.

The present Government has also initiated a solution to the longstanding unresolved issue of seafarers. A big challenge was the digitalization of their Seaman Cards and Books to increase efficiency and reduce red tape. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs in collaboration with NADRA for the first time issued machine-readable SID cards to over 30,000 Pakistani seafarers. With the availability of data online, the process of sign-on and sign-off has been streamlined. Shifting of data online has also increased reliability and security for countries issuing visas to seafarers travelling abroad to join vessels.

World Maritime Day was first celebrated on 17th March 1978. The world relies on a safe, secure, and efficient international shipping industry, which is an essential component for economic growth in a sustainable manner. International shipping transports more than 80% of global trade to people and communities all over the world. World Maritime Day provides an opportunity to pay tribute to the world’s 1.5 million seafarers for their unique and all-too-often overlooked contribution to the well-being of the general public.

The celebration of World Maritime Day 2021 is particularly important as it coincides with Pakistan’s candidature in this year’s elections to the IMO Council in Category “C” at the 32nd session of IMO Assembly, to be held in December 2021.
