Turbulent Situation in Pakistan: Travel Advisory and Road Diversions

Pakistan’s law and order situation has been experiencing turbulence following the recent arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan. Despite the Supreme Court declaring the arrest as ‘unlawful,’ the atmosphere remains volatile, particularly in the Twin Cities.

In response to these developments, the PTI leadership has urged the public to resume protests after Friday prayers. Consequently, authorities have issued an advisory to assist people in their travels during this time of unrest.

The advisory includes the following instructions:

  1. Closure of Srinagar Highway: All traffic is prohibited from using Srinagar Highway. Travelers are advised to seek alternative routes to reach their destinations safely.
  2. Melody, G-6 Diversions: Diversions have been implemented for both sides of traffic at the main Melody Road, stretching from Shuhada Chowk to Aabparah Chowk. Commuters are recommended to use alternative routes such as A K Fazlulhaq Road and Suhurwardi Road.
  3. Red Zone Diversions: Diversions have been put in place for both sides of traffic at NADRA Chowk, Express Chowk, and Ayub Chowk in the Red Zone area. Alternatively, Margallah Road and Serena Chowk can be utilized for entry and exit from the Red Zone.
  4. G-10 Service Road Diversions: Diversions have been established for both sides of traffic at G-10 Service Road South. As an alternative, commuters can use the Service Road East of G-11 or the Service Road West of G-9.

This situation is continuously evolving, and updates are emerging by the minute. Travelers are advised to follow the official Twitter account of Islamabad Police to stay informed about the latest developments and plan their journeys accordingly.

It is important for the public to prioritize their safety and adhere to the instructions provided by the authorities. By exercising caution and staying informed, individuals can navigate through these challenging circumstances with greater ease and minimize potential disruptions to their travel plans.
