Dahi On The Daily! Pakistan’s Love For Yogurt

Pakistan’s Love For Yogurt

Dahi, also known as yogurt, is an integral part of Pakistani cuisine. It is not only consumed as a standalone dish but also used in a variety of traditional dishes like biryani, raita, lassi, and much more. In Pakistan, dahi is commonly made at home, and its quality and taste depend on the purity of the milk and the fermentation process. However, with the introduction of packaged yogurt, like Millac yogurt, it has become easier for people to consume high-quality yogurt with consistent quality and taste.

Traditional dahi has been a staple in Pakistani households for centuries. It is typically made by heating the milk until it boils, then cooling it down to around 40°C before adding yogurt culture. The mixture is then left to ferment for several hours, allowing the lactobacilli bacteria in the yogurt culture to turn the milk into yogurt. The resulting yogurt is thick, creamy, and tangy, with a slightly sour taste.

However, making dahi at home can be a time-consuming and challenging process, and there are several factors that can impact its quality, such as the quality of the milk, the temperature during fermentation, and the hygiene of the utensils used. Additionally, traditional dahi is prone to spoilage, which can be a health hazard.

This is where packaged yogurt like Millac Dahi comes in. Millac Dahi is made from high-quality milk and is packaged in a hygienic environment to ensure its safety and consistency. It has a rich, creamy texture and a tangy flavor that is similar to traditional dahi. Millac Dahi is also rich in nutrients, containing high levels of calcium, protein, and other essential vitamins and minerals.

One of the significant advantages of Millac Dahi over traditional dahi is its convenience. It is readily available in most supermarkets and grocery stores across Karachi, making it easy for people to consume high-quality yogurt without the hassle of making it at home. Moreover, Millac Dahi has a longer shelf life than traditional dahi, which reduces the risk of spoilage and food-borne illnesses.

Another advantage of Millac Dahi is its versatility. It can be used in a variety of dishes, just like traditional dahi, but with the added convenience of being readily available and consistent in quality and taste. Additionally, Millac Dahi comes in different flavors, making it appealing to people who may not like the taste of traditional dahi.

In conclusion, traditional dahi is an essential part of Pakistani dietary consumption. However, with the introduction of packaged yogurt like Millac Dahi, it has become easier for people to consume high-quality yogurt with consistent quality and taste. Millac Dahi is a convenient, safe, and versatile alternative to traditional dahi, providing households with the best solution for nutrition and hygiene.

Surviving Against the Odds: Indigenous Children Found Alive Two Weeks After Plane Crash in Colombia

Surviving Against the Odds: Indigenous Children Found Alive Two Weeks After Plane Crash in Colombia

In a miraculous turn of events, four children, including an 11-month-old baby, from an Indigenous community in Colombia have been discovered alive after enduring a plane crash more than two weeks ago. President Gustavo Petro shared the news on Wednesday, expressing the country’s joy and highlighting the arduous search efforts undertaken by the military.

The plane crash occurred in the early hours of May 1 while en route from Araracuara to San Jose del Guaviare. With seven people on board, the aircraft experienced engine failure, resulting in the tragic deaths of the three adults, including the pilot. However, against all odds, the four children, aged 13, 9, 4, and the 11-month-old baby, managed to survive the impact.

Rescuers discovered the bodies of the deceased adults within the wreckage on Monday and Tuesday. Preliminary information revealed that the Huitoto community children had not only survived but also ventured into the vast Amazon rainforest. They sustained themselves by consuming fruits and resourcefully constructed shelters using sticks and branches, which were eventually found by the search and rescue teams.

The armed forces intensified their efforts when remnants of the children’s makeshift shelters, comprised of improvised stick and branch structures, were located on Wednesday. Photographs released by the armed forces revealed the scissors and a hair tie used by the children, strewn amidst the dense jungle.

Dubbed “Operation Hope,” the rescue operation faced numerous challenges, including towering trees reaching up to 40 meters (131 feet), concerns about wild animals, and heavy rainfall. The dense Amazon jungle in Colombia’s Caqueta province posed formidable obstacles, but the joint efforts of the military, firefighters, and civil aviation authority officials were determined to succeed.

Due to limited road access and challenging river routes, air travel is the primary mode of transportation in the region. Over 100 soldiers, supported by sniffer dogs, were deployed for the search operation. As part of their strategy, one of the three helicopters employed in the operation hovered above the jungle, playing a recorded message from the children’s grandmother, urging them to remain still and avoid further movement within the treacherous terrain.

The survival and discovery of these resilient children have captivated the nation, serving as a testament to the strength of the human spirit. Their remarkable journey of resilience and survival against all odds reminds us of the indomitable will to persevere even in the face of unimaginable adversity.

Abbott Labs Sued Over PediaSure Height Claims

A woman has filed a case against Abbott Laboratories in New York City accusing the company of misleading height claims. The woman says that the healthcare company has labelled its nutritional drink PediaSure as “clinically proven” to increase height.

The woman who was identified as Joanne Noriega claimed she bought PediaSure Grow & Gain strawberry and vanilla drinks for her grandson who is 8-year-old. The child was “short for his age” and the woman believed that the supplement would make him become taller.

Later, after a year of two PediaSure drinks in a day, the child was still the same. However, he became “so overweight” that she had to stop buying PediaSure.

Noriega said that PediaSure is “just a flavored sugar and milk-based drink that contains vitamins, which is not a cure for shortness.” She also said that Abbott “knows from its own studies that its Clinically Proven Claim is false and misleading.”

The company said, “PediaSure is a scientifically designed complete and balanced nutritionsolution for children to help support growth and development.”

Abbott says that PediaSure is designed for children between the ages 2-13 year old and is proven to help children “grow out of at-risk weight-for-height percentiles (5th-25th percentiles).”

Pakistani Rupee Shows Signs of Recovery Today Against US Dollar Amidst Market Fluctuations

Pakistani Rupee Shows Signs of Recovery Against US Dollar Amidst Market Fluctuations

The Pakistani rupee showed a modest recovery against the US Dollar during intraday trade, increasing by nearly 12 paisas after reaching a peak of 281 earlier in the day. However, the rupee experienced bearish momentum in the afternoon, with the interbank rate falling by Rs. 2 to reach a low of 287 before bouncing back above 285. Despite this, open market rates remained high at around 300, while traders anticipated a drop to 290 if the political situation stabilized in the coming days.

By the end of the trading day, the PKR exhibited a 0.04 percent appreciation, settling at 284.97 after gaining 11 paisas. Market experts attributed the positive movement to reduced tensions following lackluster protests outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan. They anticipated an improvement in sentiment with the restoration of internet services and political stability. However, the uncertainty surrounding the IMF bailout could potentially offset any gains in the following weeks.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) provided some relief to the markets by confirming that Pakistan’s external financing requirements for the revival of the bailout program remained unchanged. However, traders advised caution regarding exchange rate fluctuations in the upcoming week, as the outcome of discussions among stakeholders to reach an agreement and resolve their differences beyond May remained uncertain.

The next drop below the 300 mark was expected to occur more easily, and the markets closely monitored lawmakers’ decisions, believing that measures in favor of the public would positively impact the economy and consequently, the markets.

Since January 2023, the rupee has witnessed a decline of nearly Rs. 58, and since April 2022, it has depreciated by over Rs. 105 against the US Dollar. In today’s trading, the PKR gained nearly 12 paisas against the Dollar.

Additionally, it also experienced gains against other major currencies in the interbank market, appreciating by two paisas against the UAE Dirham (AED), three paisas against the Saudi Riyal (SAR), and 43 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD). Moreover, the rupee strengthened by 19 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD), Rs. 1.2 against the Pound Sterling (GBP), and Rs. 1.22 against the Euro (EUR) in today’s interbank currency market.

Lahore District Education Council Launches Inclusive Education Program for Transgender Community

In a remarkable effort to foster inclusivity and provide educational opportunities, the District Education Council of Lahore has introduced a pioneering initiative. Special classes will be allocated for the transgender community in all government schools across the 260 Union Councils of the provincial capital.

This groundbreaking initiative aims to address the educational needs of transgender individuals and ensure their access to high-quality education.

To implement this plan, each high school within Lahore’s Union Councils will dedicate two classrooms exclusively for transgender students. Additionally, a designated teacher will be assigned to cater specifically to their educational needs.

To ensure effective implementation and supervision, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the council will personally oversee the education and facilities provided to the transgender community in these designated schools.

This decision comes at a pivotal moment when there is a noticeable surge in interest among transgender individuals to pursue education.

According to the Punjab School Education Department (SED), there are currently 1,488 transgender students enrolled in public schools across the province.

Recognizing the importance of creating educational opportunities and a conducive learning environment, Lahore’s District Education Authority (DEA) is actively working to support the transgender community.

Following a recent meeting at the CEO’s office, a decision was made to involve all Union Councils in Lahore, ensuring maximum educational opportunities for transgender individuals.

The closure of the only dedicated transgender school in Lahore’s Garden Town area last month left community members and representatives disheartened due to insufficient funds.

Expressing disappointment over the closure, Pervaiz Akhtar, CEO of DEA, acknowledged the challenges faced, particularly regarding transportation and limited funds. The closure raised concerns about the availability of educational institutions for the transgender community.

To overcome these challenges, DEA has devised a comprehensive plan that involves allocating classes and teachers in all Union Councils. This approach enables transgender students to receive education within their own communities, eliminating the need for long-distance travel.

“We already have dedicated teachers who will educate transgender students, so there is no requirement to hire additional staff on a contract basis. We are allocating two classrooms for community members, minimizing the need for extra infrastructure,” explained CEO Pervaiz Akhtar.

Furthermore, a campaign will be launched to encourage admissions and ensure maximum enrollment of transgender individuals in public schools.

This groundbreaking education plan represents a significant stride toward promoting inclusivity, empowering the transgender community through education, and ensuring equal access to educational opportunities for all residents of Lahore.
